Can someone tell me how to use Clorox bleach for whitening laundry?
I have followed the directions on the bottle exactly with several different loads of whites and I have seen absolutely NO improvement. My whites are still dingy, the stains are still there. I might as well have poured the bleach down the drain. I always dilute 3/4 to 1 cup of bleach in a quart of water and then I add 5 minutes into the wash cycle.
What am I doing wrong? I know this isn't rocket science, but bleach is not doing anything for me!
I fill my machine with hot water (whites), I then add bleach, ¾ cup for a standard washer, 1 ¼ cup for an extra large washer. I let the machine agitate for a couple of minutes too disperse the bleach, I add detergent & OxiClean, and let it agitate a couple more times, not too much. Then I add my clothes. Works like a charm.
I'm curious though, have you dried your clothes in a heated drier, or used any heat source (aside from the sun) to dry your clothes? If so, you've probably set the stain permanently. Remove all stains before drying with heat.
Oh, and if you're dealing with baby stains, well... good luck...
