Waterpik Cordless
Do dentists recommend waterpik?
Spaces between my teeth are too narrow to be cleaned up by floss. Sometimes I feel there is some food stuck between my teeth, but I cannot reach them by floss.That's why I am thinking about purchasing a waterpik. If you are a waterpik user or someone specialist in dentistry, please help me find answers for these questions:
1) Do dentists recommend using waterpik (probably along with flossing and brushing)?
2) Are they significantly more efficient than floss? (I mean... I am not looking for something fancy, I want to add something to my health)
3) What model would you recommend? (I see on amazon that the cordless one doesn't have a good rating).

I have some of my patients that prefer waterpik over floss.
However, I think you should use that on top brushing and flossing.
1. Waterpik allows you to clean precisely between teeth.
2. Because of the cleaning between teeth (especially with water to neutralize the acid) reduces the chances of getting cavities.
3. However, it does not really remove the large food particles that might be lodged in there. As a result, even if you minimize cavities, the risk of irritation and resulting bone loss remains.
4. You can fill the machine with mouthwash and deliver it interproximally (between teeth) to clean out the area. But that will ruin the machine if you don't clean it out properly after each use.
5. Instead you can fill it out with luke warm water and salt ( like 1 pinch of salt in 1 glass of water kind of ratio) to kill germs.
