I have been accepted provisionally into Dental Hygiene school, meaning as long as I successfully complete my last class. Sounds easy.. but Its College Chemistry Online..and I have never taken Chemistry before... in any setting-- high school etc. This is my last week, and I am barely above passing.. We do about 2 chapters a week, which includes 2 experiments for each, 2 quizzes, and a final.. I plan to really lock down so I can complete this class... But I know chemistry is a weak point for me right now..due to having it online..and not being in an actual class setting..
My question to other Hygienists..or other students in the program.. How much of what you learned from pre-req's do you actually use in the program..
Like Chemistry, Math, etc..
Or is it more like, they teach you what you need to know..
Im just hoping that I wont have to draw upon a reserve of things I SHOULD know.. b/c those are my weak points..
I wasn't good in chemistry either! I think the only reason I even got a C was because the instructor was retiring that year and he felt sorry for me. I was up at his desk every day asking questions about this or that. I would think I understood, and then mess up. He knew I tried hard. Unfortunately for you, on line courses don't know this about you. The good thing is that very minimal Chem is needed in the program. As long as you did good in Micro and Nutrition Anat/Physio you should be fine. good luck. email me if you have more questions
