what is behind this wall?

It seems that i can't change the shower head, because there is no "adapter" for this kind of tube.
so i am thinking about taking it down, but i wonder if i can unscrew it or it is actually a long tube all the way inside the wall? anyone knows?
That round, shiny thing is hiding the real end of the pipe. Use two pipe wrenches, hold the stub that is coming out of the wall with one wrench, unscrew the shower head with the other wrench. The new shower head screws onto the stub at that down angle. The new shower head might have an adapter in the box or you may have to go back to the hardware and but one. Use your camera to take a pic to the store.
If the house is old or you are inexperienced you could easily break the pipe off and develop severe problems.
