Tooth nerve after root canal & eventual extraction?
Hi. I had a root canal a few years ago but then that eventually broke and, as the tooth was completely knackered, it had to come out. One thing I did not ask (as I was in a daze after the painful extraction) was this - is the nerve still intact or will it have been taken out automatically as part of the root canal treatment. Also, If the nerve is still there does it matter or will it give me any bother in the future now the tooth is out?
I have had a root canal and actually had a lot of trouble with mine because the nerve wouldn't die.
So yes. They take out the nerve and then fill the shell of the tooth with cement-like stuff.
You shouldn't have anymore trouble with that tooth.
