I'm gonna undergo a sinus lift surgery in preparation for a dental implant. Does anyone have had the experience & could you please tell me a little more about it? Is sedation necessary?

Hey! I've never had a sinus lift cause my missing tooth is anterior and so would never need that, but I've heard about sinus lifts and have had a bone graft and let me tell you-- for me it was a walk in the park!
I didn't even use nitrous. I don't know if you will want it, cause I am interested in dentisry and don't get grossed out by these things and watched the entire thing in the reflection of my surgeon's loopes but you may not want to 
.
But really, its not a big deal. Here is what will happen, basically, as far as I know. Again, never had a sinus lift but have read about it and seen films of one, and they are pretty darn cool!
So you will be numbed up and then your gums will be reflected and your perio/surgeon will make a little window into your sinus. Then the sinus membrane is carefully pushed up and particulate bone grafting material is packed tightly into the space. It isn't a big deal, even though it sounds like one
I took two vicoden total after my surgery, and then was fine after that with heavy-duty advil. I think that's pretty normal and you should be pretty great afterwards, too.
