I just got a Spyder 3 Pro calibrator. I calibrated my desktop and my laptop and I got very different results.
The desktop CRT looks a lot darker than the LCD on the laptop and I'm not too sure which one is closer to the standard 2.2 gamma.
If you could take a look at my photos and tell me if they look too dark, too light, or about right, I would appreciate it.

I would like to hear from people who have their monitors calibrated correctly.
Thanks
Unfortunately I don't have a calibrated monitor, so I can't help you out there.
But I was wondering if maybe you got different results because your laptop is LCD, which is different from CRT. I've also read that monitors can only be reliably calibrated if they are no more than a few years old (until recently, mine was about 10 years old - too old for calibration). Not sure if this is true or not.
I'm assuming you put the contrast at maximum on your CRT monitor (I think this is recommended for calibrating your desktop).
It sounds as if you are headed in the right direction though. Before I knew about calibrating one's monitor, I always wondered why my pictures looked so bad on my monitor.
