Is a crown the only way?
Just want to be sure this is the only approach before I go through with it.
I have a tooth that, according to my dentist, needs to be crowned sooner than anticipated. Reason being a very small (pen tip sized) hole in the filling. Must have chipped somehow.
It appears the tooth can't take another filling so taking it out and re-doing isn't going to work they say. It has to be crowned.
Now what bothers me & what I'm in denial about is... to fix the problem temporarily, they used a small amount of dental paste to cover the hole. It seems like all it would take is patching up the hole like a tire... at least for now.
I realize that maybe there is decay going on underneath (because I feel a dull ache come to think of it), but is there any other option besides a crown.
My teeth aren't great... but I see dollar signs in their eyes as every time I go in there it's another crown here or there. Makes me a little nervous.
BEFORE FIXING THE CROWN TOO YOU NEED TO GET THE CAVITY CLEANED & FILLED. SINCE YOU SAID IT HURTS A BIT ,MAY BE YOU NEED A ROOT CANAL TOO. THEY CAN THINK OF THE CROWN LATER BUT FIRST SAVE THE TOOTH.
