I'm terrified of dogs. big dogs and small dogs alike. (boderline phobia...) i can however get used to a dog if im around it enough. I like puppies and can get used to puppies faster... heres the thing tho... puppies grow up to be dogs. I'm just wondering what kind of dog stays midsized like adult knee hight and no larger... but isn't overly furry (live on a farm and would be outdoors alot, burrs and long hair dont mix) but i don't want something that don't have much fur, a happy medium... i think golden retriever and lab puppies are cute but i want to know what kind of dog or mix would stay like puppys and not get to be big dogs?
No such thing as a dog that stays like a puppy.
Since you are afraid of dogs, getting a dog is not a good idea for you (at this time).
You would do better to work on your fear. Then when you are comfortable with dogs then consider getting one. You could start by spending time with dogs that belong to friends or family members. You can let your family/friends know about your fear and see if they will help you.
Then you can spend time volunteering with a rescue group or animal shelter.
The trick to being comfortable around dogs is learning to speak "dog". When you learn how to read a dogs barks, growls, body language then you will be much more comfortable around them.
If all that does not work.....just consider yourself a cat person and adopt a cat or two.
