Question about temporary crown...?
I just went into the dentist's office and had a temporary crown put in. There were a few seconds of mild pain, but it was nothing unbearable - though I was a bit unnerved by having 5 little instruments poking around in my mouth all at the same time.
Anyway, the most disturbing thing is the aftertaste... it's seriously the most unpleasant thing ever. All the blood is gone because I've washed my mouth literally dozens of times at this point, but the taste of the dental cement is downright terrible... the dentist said the permanent crown should come in in three weeks-ish. Does the taste go away as the cement solidifies...? I haven't eaten since yesterday morning, but with this taste in my mouth, eating is seriously the last thing on my mind... it's a very basic, bitter taste. It's extremely unpleasant.
It is hard to say what type of temporary cement he used to cause you this aftertaste. I know some of them can be pretty strong, but almost always the taste dissipates in a few days. Be patient and things will get better.
