My Trip To The Dentist
I have a great dentist. I have been going to him for over ten years. But, I am not the best at showing up for my semi-annual check-ups.
It is not that I have any phobia about dentists; indeed, dentists are my favorite doctors since there really is no downside. I mean what awful thing can happen at a dentist? The only disturbing thing to me is having to deal with that awful sounding drilling noise and the odor where drill bit meets tooth enamel.
About one month ago, I was getting those pleasant reminders/phone calls that it was time to come back in for a cleaning. I was too busy at work, so I put it on my to do list.
It is weird how things happen, because while eating some food last week I lost a filling. And, that meant a trip to the dentist.
I drove into San Francisco to have my dentist repair my filing. I parked my car and headed towards the medical building. On the way, I realized I had forgotten his suite number. I took out my phone and pulled up his web address. Oh no! It was another one of those mini-sites where it is nearly impossible to find anything of value while on the move.
Filling That Gap For More Patients
After the dental hygienist finished cleaning my teeth, my dentist came to check out the gap in my teeth. After he told me I had lost a filling (not one of his filings, by the way), I asked him if he seen what his business looked like on a mobile phone.
He replied that he had not.
So, I took out my iPhone and showed him. He did not like how it looked, but it did not appear to matter.
Next, he goes back to working on my teeth. After the shot of novacaine, he leaves the room for a few minutes.
I decide to get ready for his return.
When he comes back into the room, I have my phone in hand and show him a dentist's site that has been designed for the mobile phone. The site is easy to read, simple to use, and has been designed for the mobile web.
He checks it out. And gets back to working on my teeth. The drilling starts. Oh well, I tried.

The drilling starts again. After a few minutes it stops again. "This is in addition to my current website?" I nod yes.
Back to the drilling. He pauses a little later and asks, "It will make it easier for me to be found?" I nod yes.
After that last question, my dentist completes my filling.
Before he departs, I decide to pass along more information about why he needs a mobile website. Admittedly, I am not sure he understood since one side of mouth was numb. What I tried to relate was the following:
