what are the signs of normal healing wisdom teeth? dental people preferred?
hi, i got my wisdom teeth out about 5 days ago. i was wondering if anyone, preferably dentists or dental assistants because they are experts in this field, could tell me what are signs of healing wisdom teeth. i admit i have tried so hard to follow every aftercare instruction, i havent bled since the day of the surgery, and i have not had unbearable pain at any one point, so i dont assume i have had dry socket. but i am wondering if i am healing ok. as freaky as it is, i look into the back of my mouth everyday to see if im healing fine. the area where they extracted it (both on bottom) is like a dark purplish color. theres like white hard little things that stick out a little from the socket, like short hardened string. it doesnt look like food. and again, it hasnt bled at all and not much pain, just a weird feeling. and my dentist never gave me that syringe thing to take out food, is that weird? am i healing ok?

Hey, the same thing happened to me. I got my 2 lower bottoms pulled on the 6th of June & they are slow healing I’ll tell you....there are still "holes in my mouth" & those bums did not give me a syringe either. I have been using an ear syringe & warm water to flush the holes out after I eat works very well. I stuck with softer foods for the first week like mashed potatoes, jello, pudding, mac & cheese; I bleed all day the first 2 days & had to drink a lot of water because of the blood in my mouth. No matter what you do your breath will smell a bit because of the open wound in your mouth so don't get too panicky. Your gums will return to normal color & that is a good sign of healing, also when you are rinsing out your holes in your mouth you will feel less sensitive when cleaning which is also a sign of healing. I heard that I usually take a couple months for the holes to completely close so take a deep breath. After the second week you'll calm down, right now it just seems like no one is doing or explaining what you want to know to you & you’re at the point that you don't exactly know what you want to know. But, you got these holes in your mouth & you don't want anything bad to happen & you just want it to heal.
Most important, keep it clean, do not poke at it & stay away from hard foods that can cut inside of your hole like chips & stuff.
After the first week to second week don't be afraid to eat like real food like steak & stuff just clean out the holes after you are done eating. Use warm water & well.... I use the ear syringe.
If you are having pain rinsing your mouth out with warm salt water helps big time.
