Crater on top of my molar, treatments?
My last dentist appointment about 6 months ago, they found a crater, a very, very small one on top of of one of my bottom molars. I mean, you can't even see it when you look at it, but my dentist was able to pick at it with one of those scary looking tools.
I don't feel it, and I have no pain. My dentist told me I have to do it sometime within the next year to avoid any major risk of totally losing the tooth, so I'll be doing it in a few days. I just don't want to go in blind,
I didn't get it fixed then, because I didn't have much money. I'm just curious what the treatment is, because, it sounds like a cavity, will it just be filled? If i have to get a crown I'm fucked, because I don't have dental insurance.

Get it checked with your dentist as soon as you can, as the cavity that was detected 6 months back would have invaded well enough into the tooth. But as you don't have any pain, it seems that it might have not reached the pulp and you are still good to go with the treatment of filling with cement or amalgam.
You won't be needing a crown as of now, because the treatment for a cavity not too deep, is just a dental filling.
