How does the UPS delivery system?
I have a few questions regarding the UPS delivery system.
• Do they require you to have a signature to pick up your package?
• Do they send multiple trucks to deliver to a certain area?
• Must they travel in a certain route/order or do they just deliver as they see them?
I am a UPS driver so I will try to answer your questions the best I can.
1. As far as signatures are concerned they are required if the item is of high value (anything over $1000), if you live in a higher risk area(areas which have lots of claims), or the shipper requires a signature at time of delivery.
2. It is possible to have more than one truck in an area. Some days they add extra routes to help lower the loads on the driver. Also some days they may have one driver who is done early go help another driver who is running behind.
3. A driver can deliver his route in any order he wishes. The route is set up a certain way but the driver is not required to follow it in that order. The truck is loaded in a certain order but sometimes a driver has to alternate his route to empty out some larger packages he cannot work around or to get to certain places that close early.
