I want to play Contra III The Alien Wars (a SNES emulator game) that I have installed on my pc. It works pretty well with just the keyboard commands since it's a two-dimensional shooter.
However, some levels would be best played with a joystick of some sort since some chapters are played from a "bird's eye" view and you need to be able to slide all over the screen to shoot and dodge.
There is also a need at some points to have the ability to rotate your character 360 degrees so he can face the enemies attacking from all angles rather than repositioning yourself against them by walking backwards.
Does anyone make SNES controllers that are PC compatible? I do NOT know how to wire anything so I am hoping there's a compatible joystick out there that will work off of a computer's USB port.
I found USB joysticks, as well as SNES and NES controllers at Amazon.
I won't link them all here, because I don't have any particular brand preference myself, but they're quite common. If you're willing to pay somewhere between $20-30 I don't think you'll have any trouble finding something professionally wired so you don't have to do anything but plug it in.
I have not searched eBay yet....you might look their first. A lot of people carry these weird retro customizations (like a USB NES controller) and you might find a better price.
